Deskonomy is a practical knowledge site about how organizations choose, buy, run, and improve the environments and systems in which work happens. This means your workspace, your procurement, your negotiations, your contracts and everything in between!
Much of what you will find written in relation to workspace operations, and procurement tend to be high-level theory with limited real life applications. If not, it tends to be vendor driven and purpose-built to sell a product. Deskonomy tries to traverse the middle path – we look at real world situations and analyze requirements based on what a procurement manager, a CRE head or an admin leader would face on a daily basis.
What we focus on
Deskonomy covers four connected areas that shape day-to-day operations inside organizations:
Workspaces & GCC Operations
How offices are chosen, designed, contracted, and operated — including coworking, managed offices, leased spaces, and Global Capability Centers (GCCs). This includes topics like total cost of occupancy, SLAs, AMCs, facilities operations, IT dependencies, and real-world trade-offs that every procurement and ops manager needs for her day to day job.
Procurement & Sourcing Operations
How organizations buy services and manage vendors in practice. This includes procurement operating models, outsourcing decisions, negotiations, RFQs and contracts, and the friction points between procurement, operations, and business teams.
Systems, Tools & Automation
How tools such as Jira, ticketing systems, workflows, and even spreadsheets are actually used in operational contexts including what works, what doesn’t, and where complexity helps or hurts. We try to tell you whether you even require a complex system given your scale of operations or will a self managed worksheet suffice.
Contracts, Commercials & Risk
How contracts translate into operational reality. This includes key clauses, deposits, termination terms, SLAs, AMC fine print, and the gaps between what contracts say and how organizations behave.
What Deskonomy is Not

A Consulting Pitch
Generic Best Practices

Our goal is clarity and not volume.
Who this is for
Deskonomy is written for:
- operations leaders and managers
- procurement professionals
- founders and CXOs making workspace or sourcing decisions
- teams setting up or running GCCs
- anyone who wants to understand how work systems behave beyond PowerPoint
If you’ve ever felt that the reality on the ground looks very different from how it’s described in decks and tools, this site is for you.
A note on tone and intent
Deskonomy is intentionally text-first and slow-moving.
Articles are designed to be read carefully, revisited, and applied — not skimmed and forgotten. New content is added thoughtfully, not on a publishing calendar.
Over time, this site may also host structured resources such as playbooks, checklists, and operating frameworks. When that happens, they will follow the same principle: practical, experience-backed, and opinionated where necessary.
